Vincent Van Gogh fell in love with the light, landscape and people around the small city of Arles in southern France. While he lived there for just a couple of years he painted over two hundred works, many of them his most beautiful. My images were made outside the cafe where he used to drink and are a nod to an artist who suffered great mental torment, loneliness and anguish during his lifetime and yet was still able to produce work of the most astonishing beauty. His use of colour, his remarkable brush strokes and his ability to touch the soul were unique.
