An Untouched Life

Stretching out into shadowed gloom

Yearning for the brief relief of a warming touch

Of comfort found in entwined fingers

The reassuring empathy of soul shared tears

But finding only the cold dark void of loneliness

The isolation

The degradation

Of rejection and an untouched life

Of salvation lying so close

Yet forever unreachable

And so the light goes out

And the night exults again
